I was in a cab the other day, chatting to the cabbie as you do, and he
came out with this bizarre story. We were talking about exercise, for some
reason I can’t remember, and he said:
-
I used to do T’ai Chi you know. The class was taught by a cab
driver, and all the other people there were cabbies too. It was great,
very social, we used to go for a few drinks and stuff afterwards, I really
enjoyed it.The master (he moves his hands in a sort of karate kind of
way), was really good too, really knew his stuff. We’d do it on a
Wednesday afternoon.Like I said I really enjoyed it, but I started getting really bad
luck. The days I went to T’ai Chi i’d not get another fare that day, or
I’d get a lot of calls over the radio, but when I arrived the fare wasn’t
there. It was my wife who figured it out - she said it must be because I’m a devout Christian, and christianity and T’ai Chi are known not to go together. So I had to stop, a shame because I really enjoyed it.
So there you have it. Christian cabbies shouldn’t do T’ai Chi.
