I Stole This Card

OK, so anyone who knows me knows I am mildly obsessed with security.
One of my common beefs is how insecure credit cards are: they have a
magic number on the front to allow anyone to take money off you - and
then you give this number to random people all the time. Smart.

Well one of the other problems is that nobody ever checks signatures.
Well href="http://www.thescreamonline.com/cartoons/cartoons3-3/index.html">this
guy tested it. Very funny.

Christmas Party

Here is me. Being a cat.

Chess

A guy at work has been playing “email” chess on a website. It’s not
really played by email, since you make your moves on the web, but other
than that it’s still like correspondence chess - you have 20 days for a
move, generally.

I started playing for a bit of fun, but now I’m completely hooked.
The site isn’t pretty (and the javascript menus are really irritating),
but it’s clearly had a lot of time and effort put into it. In fact, I
am very impressed, it’s a really mature application.

Anyway, if you like chess,
ChessWorld.net is worth a visit.

We’re Back

We’ve just returned from a week in Italy. We flew to Rome, stayed a
few days then took the train North to Venice. I took some href="/gallery/italy2003">Photographs.

Our kitchen is nearly complete! Toby has done a fantastic job with
the cabinets, and it’s all looking rather neat. Lots of finishing stuff
to do yet, but we’ve got a sink and a working hob, which makes a hell of
a lot of difference.
